DiMarzio Super Distortion S Bridge Pickup for Strat DP218 The DiMarzio Super Distortion S offers the performance of the famous DP100 Super Distortion in humbucking Strat bridge direct replacement-size pickups. DiMarzio has built in the same blend of power and tone that made the original Super Distortion the world-wide standard for high-output humbuckers. They also tweaked the sound to take into account the fact that the Super Distortion S will be installed in the classic slanted bridge position. The new model has four-conductor wiring for parallel humbucking and split-coil modes, and make a great bridge position combination with the Dimarzio Pro Track DP188, Dimarzio Chopper DP184 and Dimarzio Fast Track DP181.

Tech Talk: Since the Super Distortion S will usually be installed in the slanted bridge position of a 25-1/2" scale guitar, DiMarzio has adjusted the specs of the original Super Distortion humbuckers to compensate. Treble response is smoother, and bass response is tighter. Because of their narrow magnetic fields, dual-blade Strat replacements are not generally well-known for their splitting ability. However, the Super Distortion S has a very good single-coil sound in split mode that isn 't brittle or weak.
